  • Bir Hospital was attacked after a child who underwent hip surgery died from kidney failure. Relatives of the boy stormed the hospital, and assaulted doctors and nurses on duty. The reason they gave for their action was “sheer negligence on the part of the doctors” who treated him.

23 May, 2006 (Lumbini Province Hospital, Butwal)

  • After the death of the patient during the treatment, a doctor working at Lumbini Zonal Hospital, Butwal, was attacked by the relatives of the deceased. The angry group had also vandalized the hospital. Two dozen other private clinics were also vandalized and ambulance was set ablaze, alleging that a patient was reportedly killed due to doctors' negligence.
24 May, 2006 (Everest Nursing Home, Kathmandu)
  • After the death of the patient during the treatment, the relatives of the deceased attacked the health workers at the Everest Nursing Home in Kathmandu and vandalized the hospital. Over hundred people including his relatives vandalized the hospital. Agitated crowd entered hospital premises and vandalized furniture, burnt tyres on the road in front of the nursing home, chanted slogans and demanded action against the doctors responsible.

  • After the death of the patient during the treatment, relatives attacked the doctor working in the hospital and the hospital in Janakpur Regional Hospital. After the death of a seriously injured patient in the accident during treatment, the medical superintendent working in the hospital and other health-impaired persons were assaulted and the hospital vandalized.
