Event: A 69-year-old man had passed away in the Emergency Department of KMCTH due to sudden cardiac arrest. Relatives of the deceased had accused the hospital of negligence and delay in medical intervention and beaten on-duty MDGP doctor and other doctors and staffs in emergency along with vandalizing the Emergency room.

Event: Claiming that the doctor had cut a vital nerve during the surgery for brain tumor of a 48-year-old man, ultimately leading to his death, the agitated relatives and the struggle committee staged a demonstration outside hospital demanding for compensation.

Event: After death of a 58-year-old woman during the course of treatment in the hospital, irate relatives smashed 10-11 windowpanes by pelting stone claiming the negligence of doctors. The doctors had stated that the patient died because of the heart attack. The law enforcement agency had arrested 9 people for their alleged involvement in the vandalism.

Type of violence: Picketing and Protest

Event: The hospital had prescribed a drug named "Flexon" (combination of ibuprofen and paracetamol) and discharged a 9-year-old girl with fracture of the leg. The girl was brought back to the hospital with side-effects of the medication. The family and relatives of the dead one picketed the hospital and protested accusing wrong medicine, however, the hospital claimed that the hospital failed to save the child as the family did not bring her immediately after she showed side-effects. This was settled (out of court) with Rs. 5,00,000 compensation.
